There are four distinct seasons here at Fairy Wren Cottage and life is gently guided by them.

The wood heater is constantly burning through the late  Autumn and Winter months and the early days of Spring mark the slow beginnings of warmer days, the wood heater no longer being lit and longer day light hours, each day that little bit lighter for longer than the last. And of course that gorgeous golden afternoon sunshine.

There is anticipation in the air, the promise of a new growing season, talking with friends about what varieties of fruits and vegetables they have planted and by late September whether their tomato seedlings are already up.  Our front veranda table becomes a make shift plant nursery.  It is warm behind the glass windows, slug free, easy to keep an eye on and water.  Lots of seeds planted in little pots filled with potting mix.  Seeds left over from last year’s packets, some seed collected from last years good crops and of course some ordered on a whim because let’s face it, I am like a kid in a candy store when it comes to seed catalogues.

Welcome again to Fairy Wren Cottage blog, I am so glad that you are here!

Light and Love,
