Hello,

It’s been awhile hasn’t it!

I have been sharing less posts on my Fairy Wren Cottage instagram account and writing fewer blog posts related to Fairy Wren Cottage but I am diligently keeping in touch via my monthly newsletter called Fairy Wren Cottage Postcards.

Everyone is welcome, this is a safe inclusive space where kindness is the currency and I’d love to send you a Postcard if I don’t already. There is a link at the bottom of the blog post for you to join (it is at no cost to you) if you haven’t already.

It’s really lovely that you have stopped by and are checking in.

As you might already know, for the last twelve months I have been finding my feet with taking over my husbands social media for his bespoke carpentry business All Home Renovations and Maintenance. It’s not like I lost my Fairy Wren Cottage voice, more like I was finding my All Home Renovations and Maintenance voice and navigating everything a new job entails. I’m proud of the catalogue of work that I have created. The next step is moving All Home Renovations and Maintenance blog posts and web page to its own purposely made website. I have been slowly working on it and developing it, the next step is for Liliana to come in and follow up with all the tech bits which I am rubbish at (read likely to delete everything by accident). Liliana is coming towards the end of her Uni year with exams, assignments and essays due, once she has some breathing space she will help me launch the new All Home Renovations and Maintenance website. Due to the popularity of the blog posts and the growing portfolio of work, All Home Renovations and Maintenace has outgrown the webpage and needs a dedicated blog space/website. I’m glad we started small, grown our audience, listened to client requests and are now moving to a purpose built website.

So what does that mean for Fairy Wren Cottage?

I’m planning on a little Spring clean, freshen things up.

Twelve months in, it feels like my work now with All Home Renovations and Maintenance is established and I feel grounded in the role. I have a good routine and the work will always be evolving (that is the nature of running a small business). This leaves me with a little more room to follow my creativity and return to posting at Fairy Wren Cottage. You will see some changes.

There is already an established catalogue of Homesteading posts and  ‘How-to” information, while I will sometimes revisit this topic, gardening, following the seasons and flowers will take centre stage. Especially my botanical photography.

All of my work to date is still as relevant as when I first wrote it and I encourage you to dip in and out my website and free ebooks like you would a favourite book or magazine.

Part of this last twelve months has also been really listening to my heart and what balances me. I’m not good at scrolling (it makes me anxious and gets me in a bit of a glum, can’t be bothered headspace) and I really thrive and love following my curiosity and learning about different things. I’ve been showing up on social media in a different way – signing up to newsletters that I know I will actually read and setting notifications on favourite Instagram accounts. Did you know you can do that? I want to consciously have a say in what I choose to read, not just follow what the algorithms tell me I should read. Call it an act of deviance against the tech companies and their attempts at selling us anything and everything!

I’m really looking forward to continuing my book reviews too.

I’ll send you love, hope you are ok  and see you soon.

Jude x
