A Moment In The Day Series. 7th July 2024.
The 5th day of my new series:

With Liliana on Uni break we spent some lovely crafting time together. Late afternoon when the cold is settling in, cups of tea in front of the woodfire. Very cosy. This is the shawl Lil finished for me that I was making for her. After stopping and starting it, a few stitches at a time when my injured hand allowed it, the weight became too heavy. I taught Lil the pattern and she has finished the shawl. Next Lil is working on another shawl I started, this time it is one I was crocheting for myself.

Midwinter and I’m craving the everyday beauty that isn’t in your face like Springtime blossom, the abundance in the garden during Summer, or the golden light in Autumn.
Like I mentioned in my Fairy Wren Cottage Postcard for June (my monthly newsletter), for me, this time of year is all about looking for the little treasures. The beauty is still there, it’s about taking the time to see it. Hone your senses to take notice, it is so easy to get swept up in the day to day and feeling flat with everything going on in the world.
The cool air on your cheek. Grey skies become all the colours of silver. The tiniest snowbells catch your eye as you walk through the garden gate. Watching Apricot the Buff Orpington hen drinking, in those moments it is like a lesson in mindfulness.
Last year it was for the month of May, this year I was planning for August, but I think it is time to do my yearly project.
