Early days in the Quince Orchard with Duckie, Amelia Cordelia & Beatrix in the bath!

There is always something so inspiring when looking at photos from when we first started to tend the garden here at Fairy Wren Cottage.

It makes me feel more motivated. When we shifted in there were long to do lists and lists of plants and trees that I was busting to try growing.

Into our 9th year here the trial and error has made us more deliberate in our choices of what we grow.

Injuries and illness that we live with day to day has narrowed our  planting choices based around what grows well with little fuss but still provides any or all of the following, food, shelter, bird or marsupial habitat, and just even something that the bees are attracted to.

Granny Squares used to make wooden stake covers to stop any eye injuries.

I was reminded of Marianne Williamson’s quote that goes something along the lines of:

If something is lacking in a situation

Bring more of your self to it.

So I have been focusing my journaling on the garden, sending it love and listening to its whispers.

How do I want it to flourish, what can I bring to it, what am I asking of the garden and in return how can I and we as a family rise up to meet the gifts it gives us.

According to people who have lived in the valley all their lives it snows here every 10 or so years.

Hope you liked the throw back photo’s.

Sending Light & Love,
