Thank you for visiting my flowery corner of the web!

A big welcome if you have made your way here via the Grass Roots Magazine bread crumb trail.

And of course if you have been following me for a while you will know my absence has been due to the bush fires here in Tasmania.

We were very lucky that we were not in the line of fire but did feel the impact of the fires burning in our surrounds. Weeks of heavy smoke accompanied by health warnings, plus days of experiencing ash and embers falling around our home.

I went quiet on social media because well I just didn’t even know what to say.  Life felt very vulnerable.

The fires haven’t stopped, they have been down graded and we have fresh air again.  It does feel a little surreal opening a window again and breathing fresh air. Our thoughts go out to everyone who has been effected by the bushfires and especially to those who are tirelessly fighting them.

After weeks of not being able to go outside for more than a couple of minutes at a time and for many days not being able to go out at all it was absolutely brilliant to be reunited with our ducks and chooks.  As soon as Lil’s little silkies saw her they ran up, crowding around her feet, all taking in turns to be picked up and cuddled. Talk about a gorgeous reunion, I may have gotten a bit teary.  Thankfully Michael was able to check on the animals twice a day, putting out extra food and water dishes since the smoke restricted us so much.

Popcorn the Rhode Island Red and Plum the Orpington hen enjoying a drink.

I don’t take my life or where I live for granted and I am always looking for the beauty in our day.

I’m so grateful to be able to be outside again doing some of the things I love doing most in the world.

Picking flowers that we have grown in our garden.

Sitting and watching the hens as they gather close by, especially when they sit next to us, stretch out and start to sunbath.

Watching the hens drinking.

Standing ever so still in the garden and watching the little birds skip around from fennel flowers to fruit tree branches to the bird baths.

It is the little things in life that are the big things.

Wishing you a day filled with fresh air and moments of looking for the beauty in your day.

Thank you…..
